Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Q: What is a tire pressure monitoring system?

A: A tire pressure monitoring system is used to alert the driver if one tire or a combination of tires is significantly low on pressure. All passenger cars, light trucks, SUVs, and buses that have a gross vehicle weight ratio of less than 10,000 pounds and manufactured on or after September 1st, 2007 are required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to have a tire pressure monitoring system (except dual wheel axle type vehicles).
