Fuel Filter

The fuel filter, located between the fuel tank and the carburetor or injection system, cleans the fuel entering the engine. The fuel filter may be located under the vehicle near a frame member or under the hood near the carburetor or fuel injectors. Fuel filters contain a paper type element to collect contaminants. A clogged fuel filter slows fuel delivery, lowers engine performance, and causes excessive fuel pump wear. Warning: Complete fuel system services in a well-ventilated area. Allow engine to cool, wear goggles, disposable gloves, and follow the manufacturer’s procedure to safely relieve fuel pressure.
