Burst Radiator Hose

Cooling system failure is a common cause of roadside emergencies. If a hose bursts, pull off to the side of the road. Shut off the engine so you don’t risk overheating it. Do not open the radiator cap and be careful while under the hood of the vehicle. Antifreeze/coolant can be extremely hot. You will need to call a tow truck or get the replacement part and fix it on the side of the road. If you do replace the hose, complete the repair when the engine is cool. Also, refill the radiator and coolant recovery tank with the proper coolant mixture (usually 50% water to 50% antifreeze).
