Gasoline Gallon Equivalent

The energy content of fuels is rated in British Thermal Units (BTUs). One BTU is equals to the energy released by burning one wooden match. A gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) is a measure used to compare the energy of an alternative fuel to gasoline. If the alternative fuel has less energy content, a vehicle would have to burn more of that fuel per mile.
