Reading Window Stickers

Every new vehicle is issued a window sticker full of information specific to that vehicle.

Window Sticker. The window sticker includes the MSRP, engine and transmission specifications, standard equipment and warranty details, optional equipment and pricing, EPA fuel economy and environment estimates, and government safety ratings. Keep a copy of the window sticker with the vehicle as a helpful reference when parts are needed or for resale details.

Fuel Economy and Environment Label. In 2013, the NHTSA and EPA required a newly designed fuel economy and environment label. This label provides information to accurately compare fuel economy, greenhouse gas ratings, smog ratings, annual fuel cost estimates, and charging time (electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles). It shows how much you would spend on fuel for that vehicle as compared to the average new vehicle. A QR code can be scanned with a smartphone for more online information.
